Lisa J. Berry-Tayman
“The Lawyer Who Gets Records and Information Management”
Lisa J. Berry-Tayman is a trusted advisor and consultant, and provides assistance to companies in the areas of information management, information protection, and e-discovery. In addition to being an attorney, she is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), a globally recognized certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Because of her understanding of information management and protection, she has been described by records managers and other information professionals as
“the lawyer who gets records and information management.”
Lisa has had an eclectic career with one common thread – information. After a stint at a civil litigation firm, Lisa spent most of her career at a national litigation support group where she traveled across the nation collecting confidential life history records on plaintiffs in toxic tort and product liability cases. She refers to this time in her career as being on the information management offensive as she pushed to get access to records and challenged those managing (or not managing) information. Lisa returned to the practice of law as an appellate criminal prosecutor and then transitioned to a civil law practice with an emphasis on discovery, e-discovery, information management, and information protection before becoming an information consultant.
Lisa speaks on information management, information protection, and e-discovery at numerous corporate, legal, governmental, and university events. She has published articles on e-discovery and the importance of proper information management. She is a frequent guest lecturer at the Computer, Information and Leadership Technology Department at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). She also serves as a subject matter expert at the School of Informatics at IUPUI for the newly formed Electronic Discovery class.
In addition, Lisa is an active member of ARMA International and serves as the President of the Greater Indianapolis Chapter of ARMA. In 2008, she was named “Chapter Member of the Year.”
